The Brief: The client’s had recently moved into the property and although happy with the layout of the kitchen, the furniture was showing its age and so needed replacing. They also wanted to open up the utility room and reveal an original fireplace by knocking out some built-in cupboards and add storage to the passageway between the utility room and the study. The Aga was an essential item to remain in place, along with the batterie- de-cuisine hanging over the island. This was repainted to match the rest of the kitchen. The final part of the brief was a bench seat with storage space for the wellies and coats, essential given their lovely rural location! This was made on site by our fitters and painted to match the furniture.
By choosing to hand-paint the cabinetry on site we were able to perfectly match the new cabinets to the paint colours in the recently refurbished orangery. The colour scheme is beautifully restful, letting the lovely original features in the room and outlook through the orangery to the gardens really show themselves off.
The Kitchen People were proactive from day one through to the completion of kitchen installation. They worked with us and provided constructive ideas to make our initial kitchen design both contemporary and practical. We agreed a timetable for the installation which was adhered to throughout the project. The sub-contractors chosen to install the kitchen were a pleasure to work with. The overall quality of both the units and the hand-made extras were excellent. We would not hesitate to recommend the Kitchen People or use them again.
